Becoming a Minority

Soo I have been really bad at updating this, I knew I wasn't going to be so great at keeping a blog. Keep on me though, if you like reading this you have to keep reminding me to update it for you!!

So we left ATL and headed to Auburn for the weekend. Auburn was beautiful the campus was very scenic and the little town was a lot of fun. It reminded me of being back in college, the good old days! ha It was really cool to see where my old Florida roomie Cassie went to school and actually experience some of the things she used to tell me about. Over the last few months between living with her and now visiting the city, I have become a new little Auburn Fan!

After the short weekend in Auburn we left to go to Charlotte for the CIAA Basketball Tournament. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. We thought it would be a small tournament with just the normal basketball crowd. We were definitely wrong to say the least. The CIAA Tournament is the biggest African American event to celebrate their culture in that area. Thousands of people were in Charlotte from all over the South and Northeast. Being on an African American based Street Team I am slowly realizing what it is like to be a minority. Pretty much every event with this one being the peak I have been one of the only Caucasian people there. This is not at all a bad thing, I am just learning a lot about their culture that I would have never known. The event in Charlotte was pretty terrible because the fans were so angry we would not give them more free things, we would get cursed out everyday. Going out in Charlotte with all of the girls who came down from Chicago to help out and Celeste was a blast though! We had a few girls nights out on the town and they showed me what nightlife outside of Iowa is all about.

We left Charlotte to come back to our home away from home Atlanta! We have been here all week and just wrapped up the GA High School BBall Tournament last night. Oh to be in high school again .. we played a fun game where we tried to pick out what each other were like back in the day. Of course I was pegged as the girl with all of her friends holding hands with a boy ... I guess they werent too far off were they? Ha We get to enjoy today and tomorrow with very little work before we head to Savannah!

I can't wait for the next few weeks. Savannah, GA for St Pattys Festival on the River, then we head to FLORIDA and get to go to my old stomping ground!!

I have already set a reminder to update my blog this week, so check back :)

XOXO
